I just read that actress Katee Sackoff (Battlestar Galactica, Longmire
, etc.) lost half her twitter followers…about 100,000 over a tweet encouraging firearms safety.
I guess an awful lot of her ‘fans’ confuse the promotion of firearms safety with the promotion of violence.
It’s so infrequent that we hear something sane and rational out of the Hollywood types about firearms that I encourage you to follow her and voice your support.
By the way, Battlestar Galactica is now free to watch on Amazon Prime and she’s great in her current series, Longmire.
We continue to expand Prepography’s Glossary & Acronyms listing. Make sure to check it out and let us know if there’s anything that should be added.
If you haven’t checked out Prepography’s Glossary lately, take a look. It’s a continual work in progress with a great deal recently added on chemical weapon terms, terms used to describe toxins and the medical terms used in describing and treating chemical injuries. These terms will come in handy with an upcoming article series.

Today’s a good day to reflect on what a fair level of taxation is. If someone taking 100% of the fruits of your labor is slavery and taking 0% is absolute economic freedom then what’s the balance that results in the least loss of freedom yet maintains our necessary spending? I say necessary because as Dr. Thomas Sowell says in today’s quote “The real goal should be reduced government spending, rather than balanced budgets achieved by ever rising tax rates to cover ever rising spending.” There’s no doubt that we’ve collectively elected generations of politicians from both parties who have been hell bent on taking our hard earned income in order to line their pockets, favor their friends and build their pet projects.
I’m just back from a few weeks of travel and will share some of the thoughts I’ve been toying with over the next week or so and some of the preparedness projects that the weather will finally let me tackle.

Between a recent tour of Army Reserve duty (with very poor internet access), illness, family injuries and the resulting car shopping I’m a bit behind on my writing. Everyone is fine but it’s messed with our publishing timetable.
Rather than setting aside some of the more in depth articles I’m working on including an eye prepping and a dental prepping article… I’m going to take a short publishing sabbatical to catch up on my writing and get a head start on additional travel I have to take later in the spring. Check back 3/28 for a return to our regular publishing schedule.
Thanks for understanding and in the meanwhile enjoy the Quote of Day and/or these best (or at least most visited) of Prepography articles.
I’m still keeping an eye on prices and availability of key supplies to keep my firearms running and noticed that Prepography advertiser LuckyGunner has almost 1,000 standard capacity AR-15 magazines in stock and ready to ship as of 1PM Central time 2/15/13. Prices range from $18.99 for 20 round Thermold magazines to $45.50 for 30 round Magpul PMAGs.
Brownells and Sportman’s Guide are still taking backorders for AR-15 magazines and their prices are better…but nothing’s in stock and some of the expected by dates are months in the future.
I hope my readers in the Northeast are staying safe and warm. Make sure to lend a hand and set the example for your non-prepping neighbors.
Once things settle down, please share with us what preps worked and what didn’t.
Request for Information: I’m looking for both a prepper minded dentist and a prepper minded ophthalmologist or optometrist willing to be interviewed by e-mail for a couple of articles I’m working on. If you fit the bill and are willing to help…please respond using my contact page.

I just learned that one of my favorite firearms writers, Massad Ayoob survived a helicopter crash into a swamp in St. Lucie County Florida on Saturday. He was reportedly treated and released from hospital. I hope he survived the incident relatively unscathed…he’s a national treasure and a voice we need to hear now more than ever.
I’m about halfway through his book Gun Digest Book of Concealed Carry…it’s the best book I’ve read on the subject.
If it’s been a while since you checked out Prepography’s list of Online Preparedness Tools and Resources it’s worth checking out. We’ve added several new tools and links recently.
