Obama On That American Promise – Today’s Quote

What — what is that American Promise?  It’s a promise that says each of us has the freedom to make of our own lives what we will

Then Senator Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, 2008

Andrew’s Note:  Mr. President I couldn’t agree more!  What a nice phrase, “the freedom to make of our own lives what we will…”  Now please stop appointing socialists to high office, as well as encouraging legislation, allowing Federal regulations and issuing Executive Orders Decrees that decrease our freedom…that’s tantamount to breaking the American Promise!

Kudlow Says Its Not Freedom – Today’s Quote

Here’s what else I don’t want: As a 60-something, relatively healthy person, I don’t want lactation and maternity services, abortion services, speech therapy, mammograms, fertility treatments or Viagra.  I don’t want it.  So why should I have to tear up my existing health-care plan, and then buy a plan with far more expensive premiums and deductibles, and with services I don’t need or want?  Why? Because Team Obama says I have to.  And that’s not much of a reason.  It’s not freedom.

Freedom For the Future – Today’s Quote

Demolition Man

That’s right. You see, according to Cacteau’s plan.  I’m the enemy.  Because I like to think, I like to read.  I’m into freedom of speech, freedom of choice.  I’m the kind if guy who would sit in the greasy spoon and think “Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the big rack of Barbecued spare ribs with the side order of gravy fries?”  I want high cholesterol.  I want to eat bacon, butter and buckets of cheese alright?  I want to smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinatti in a non-smoking section.  I wanna run around naked with green jell-o all over my body reading a Playboy magazine.  Why? Because maybe I feel the need to okay pal?  I’ve seen the future, you know what it is.  It’s made by a 47 year-old virgin in gray pajamas soaking in a bubble bath, drinking a broccoli milkshake and singing “I’m an Oscar-Meyer Wiener”.  You wanna live on top, you gotta live Cacteau’s way.  What he wants, when he wants, how he wants.  Your other option: come down here, maybe starve to death.

Green Tyranny – Today’s Quote

Industry and technology, not regulations, are humanity’s greatest contribution to the environment.  Leave people their freedom, and they come up with new, smarter, more efficient and thus cleaner ways of doing things.  Stifling that process with regulation isn’t “progressive.”

The Essence of America – Today’s Quote

The essence of America — that which really unites us — is not ethnicity, or nationality, or religion.  It is an idea, and what an idea it is:  That you can come from humble circumstances and do great things.  That it doesn’t matter where you came from but where you are going.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice

The Duke on Freedom – Today’s Quote

I’ve known Jane Fonda since she was a little girl. I’ve never agreed with a word she’s said, but would give my life defending her right to say it.

Men Enslaved Are Cruel – Today’s Quote

Men enslaved are more voluptuous, more debauched, and more cruel than those who are in a state of freedom.

Marchese Beccaria Cesare Bonesana

Thompson On Exercising Freedom – Today’s Quote

Freedom is something that dies unless it’s used.

Writer and Cold War Airman First Class Hunter S. Thompson

The Destruction of Freedom – Today’s Quote

A society that puts equality — in the sense of equality of outcome — ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom. The use of force to achieve equality will destroy freedom, and the force, introduced for good purposes, will end up in the hands of people who use it to promote their own interests.

Dr. Milton Friedman
